Your first stop is Cordes-sur-Ciel, one of the most emblematic hilltop bastides of Southwest France. During a guided walk through the village, you will discover its remarkable Gothic architecture, steep streets, and the story of its prosperous medieval past. The visit also highlights Cordes’ long-standing artistic tradition, with encounters along the way with local craftspeople and galleries that continue to give the village its creative spirit. Time is then left free to explore independently—whether wandering further through the upper village, browsing artisan workshops, or enjoying lunch at your own pace while taking in the sweeping views over the surrounding countryside. In the afternoon, you continue toward Najac, following picturesque tourist roads. Perched dramatically above the Aveyron River, this former fortress town offers a striking contrast in scale and atmosphere. A guided visit introduces the village and its impressive fortified castle, explaining its strategic importance, military architecture, and daily life in a frontier stronghold. At the end of the day, you return comfortably to Albi via scenic routes, closing a journey that balances landscapes, history, and village life.
